ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS : SCHOOL
1. The candidates must be over 17 years under 35 years of age as on 1st July of the year of the application.
2. Female candidates either single/married (preferably without children) or widows are admitted. The Married students will have to come from outside.
3. The minimum educational qualification for admission is a pass in PUC/ PDC/10+2 or its equivalent with three optional/electives as Science, Arts or Commerce subjects with a minimum of 45 percent marks.
4. Students should be medically fit and medical exam will be done soon after admissions with a sum of Rs.500.00 and if found unfit they will not be admitted to the course (medical bill is not refundable).
5. Students should have a fair knowledge of English.
6. The candidates should obtain their application from the Principal, ETCM, School of Nursing, Kolar – 563101 and apply in prescribed form. A copy of the Prospectus and Application will be sent to the candidate on request made to the Principals together with a payment of Rs.500/- by cash / and Rs.550/- by demand draft drawn in favor of the Principal, ETCM School of Nursing, Kolar and made payable at kolar. This amount is NOT refundable.
7. The completed application form should have the following enclosures:
- Birth / Baptism Certificate
- Zerox copies of Marks card SSLC , PUC / Equivalent
- Caste Certificate
- Conduct Certificate(general)
- Transfer Certificate
- 2 letters of recommendation (one from the College Principal and one from the Pastor)
- Migration Certificate(Candidate from outside Karnataka State.
- Six passport size recent photographs.
- Self addressed stamped envelop of size 16cms X 10cms.
SELECTION AND ADMISSION
1.The candidates are required to appear for an entrance test.
2. The candidate called for interview are required to produce the above (Sl.No.7) documents in original with a sent of zeroz copies of the same along with the interview letter.
3. Candidate will have to make their own arrangements for accommodation during entrance test and interview.
4. The list of selected candidates will be intimated by post OR at once.

BASIS FOR ADMISSION
Selection will be based on the eligibility and performance in entrance test/interview and is subject to medical fitness.
ORGANISATION CURRICULAM AND EXAMINATION
PRELIMINARY TRAINING PERIOD:
The students undergo a preliminary training for the first 12 weeks, during which they are posted in clinical area for observation. An examination to assess the students' ability to continue the course held at the end of the period, successful candidates only will be allowed to continue the course.
ACADEMIC YEAR: Starts from first September to the end of August
DURATION OF THE COURSE: The duration of the General Nursing and Midwifery course is three and half years.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE & MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION: The syllabi and regulations of the course is as prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council and is followed by Karnataka State Nursing Council. The medium of instruction is English. Theoretical instructions are given in the institute by the Nursing tutors, Doctors, Specialists and ward sisters the clinical experience is gained in the 220 bedded ELLEN THOUBURN COWEN MEMORIAL (ETCM) HOSPITAL and also in other institutions according to the requirement of the syllabus. A student must have a minimum of 80 percent of attendance in theory and Practical for appearing for Annual Board Examination.
COLLEGE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENT
The candidate should:
1. have completed 17 years of age at the time of admissions.

3. Be medically fit and medical exam will be done soon after selection with a fee of Rs.500/- and if found unfit they will not be admitted to the course (medical bill will not be refunded ).
4. obtain the application form from the Principal, ETCM College of Nursing, Kolar – 563101 and apply in prescribed form. The duration of B.Sc(N) course is four years.
DESCRIPTION OF THE COURSE AND MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
The Basic B.Sc., Nursing programme is designed to enable students to get a broader vision of nursing based on scientific principles and provide comprehensive nursing care to all categories of people. The syllabus and regulations of the course is as prescribed by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka. Students have to appear for University examinations at the end of each year. The annual Examination is conducted as per notification issued by Rajiv Gandhi University from time to time. The candidate should have minimum of 80% of attendance both in theory and practical, should pass in the internal assessment tests conducted by the college. The minimum marks required for passing any examination is 50 percent in each subject. The degree is awarded by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, Karnataka, and is recognized by Indian Nursing Council.
VACATION AND SICK LEAVE RULES : SCHOOL & COLLEGE OF NURSING
During the course 30 days of vacation is granted annually. Students are allowed to take 10 days sick leave per year. More than, the allowed days taken will have to be made up at the end of the course. Leave for Special festivals, weddings,etc., other than their brother/sisters will not be granted.
Students are expected to attend all classes on all working days of the year. Leave will not be granted except in cases of genuine emergency. All application must be addressed to the Principal and must clearly indicate the name & year of the course, and must be signed by Parents/Guardians. In case of absence due to sickness medical certificate must be produced.
During the course of working days, students will not be allowed to leave the School/College premise once they enter in unless they posses a specific request letter signed by the Parents/guardian and sanctioned by the Principal.
We discourage late re-joining after vacations. All students/day scholars/boarders must rejoin the School/College on the OPENING DAY, failing which they will be fined with Rs. 100 per day.
